To Merge or Not to Merge? That is the question before us.
Why did the AFTRA member stop crossing the street halfway? So he could meet a SAG member coming from the other side in the middle.
I’ve been a dual card member of AFTRA and SAG for more than 30 years and have been in the middle for a long time, as have more than 40,000 of us dual card holders. An overwhelming majority of us know that the time is NOW to become one. It is the practical, logical and the only real solution to the question at hand.
Whether you are a single card holder of either AFTRA or SAG, or if you hold both, it is imperative, especially if you have any doubts or questions, that you have all the facts and information available before casting your vote.
If you have any apprehensions about leaving your sidewalk to join us in the middle of the street, I would suggest that you log onto www.sagaftra.org to peruse all the pertinent information regarding the proposed merger.
I’m positive it will help you to look both ways and to see that it is safe to cross and join the majority in the middle.
If I may, I’d like to quote one of the phrases so eloquently spoken by Jack Rebney in the documentary Winnebago Man. If you are familiar with my reference, then you know it’s about the only one I can use in this instance, but I digress.
At one point, Jack said, “Will you do me a kindness?”
At this point, I’m going to say, “Will you do yourself and all of us a kindness?”
As Union members, it is time to think about the future and the combined strength of being one, to be involved, to be informed, and do the kindness of voting YES.
In solidarity,
