runaway production

AFTRA is involved in federal efforts to prevent the American entertainment industry from shifting production and thousands of jobs overseas, as well as various state solutions such as wage-based tax credits that provide incentive for producers to stay home.

Efforts continue in coalition with the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) to formulate and pass effective legislation to address this issue. It is anticipated that a bill allowing producers an accelerated deduction structure (similar to Great Britain’s approach) will be presented in mid-February.
