Message from AFTRA Detroit Local President Jayne Bower

Welcome to AFTRA Detroit !  We are a dedicated family of actors, singers, broadcasters, voiceover artists and other performers who know that belonging to a union is vital to the future of our craft, our families and our community!  I could not be more proud to be president as we work toward a number of goals to make us an even stronger union, locally and nationally.

Our Local Board is as diverse as the performers AFTRA represents. From a Motown star to award winning broadcast journalists and working actors, we've got you covered! We are working hard on a number of exciting projects – all with the same end game – more AFTRA jobs in Detroit and Michgan.

We also have fun! From the Labor Day parade to the annual holiday open house, your Detroit AFTRA Board is involved in the community and constantly looking for ways to reach out to members and soon-to-be members. One of our top priorities was to reinstate our conservatory program, which has been realized in a very big way. We have held a series of workshops over the past few years with some of the top performers in their fields serving as instructors. We have been proud to welcome new members and nuture relationships with current members through our conservatory!

There is no doubt that AFTRA Detroit has traveled far, but our journey is far from over. I believe with all my heart that AFTRA Detroit's rich history and any challenges we may face now will help us keep our eyes focused on the road to the future!
