Memorial Service for Ira Stadlen, aka Allen Swift

AFTRANY Member Ira Stadlen, aka Allen Swift, 86, actor, playwright, artist, comedian, magician, "Man of A Thousand Voices," "Beloved Herring Maven," died peacefully at home on April 18, surrounded by his adored and adoring family. He is best known for his work on Howdy Doody, his work as Captain Allen Swift on WPIX's Popeye, for his play, Checking Out, that was produced on Broadway (that he not only wrote but also starred in opposite Joan Copeland) and for being one of the biggest voiceover actors of his generation. He will be sorely missed by many for his humor, warmth, many talents and independent spirit. Services Wednesday, April 21, 1:15pm, "The Riverside", 76th and Amsterdam.
